Formula 1’s New Renault R31

Monday, February 7th, 2011

The unveiling of the Renault R31 revealed more then just car design. It is easy to see that team Lotus 2011 are going for a new look that’s a ‘radical departure from all previous Renault Formula 1 designs’ (ITV. F1)

The R31 has:

• No carry over parts
• 92% of its components are brand new
• It has a pullrod rear suspension – Similar layout to Red Bull.

The R31 is a car designed with change in mind; its new layout will confirm it’s different from all others ever produced for team Lotus. The bold changes represent Renaults attempt to maximum performance and live up to the recently changed regulations.

F1 Renault’s most striking technical development, the front end Exhaust!

Renaults attempt to transform their new car has led to a rather radical development. Their ‘front exiting exhaust’ has been a hot topic of interest the last few days with all motor sport enthusiasts. Its easy to understand why, with a head turning front exhaust system that is designed allow fumes to travel to the diffuser, this allows more air to be channelled.

It appears that Renault have found a suitable solution to the blown diffuser concept, blowing the front edge of the floor will give them. But will this give them a better time and work more effectively then its competitors, well we are just going to have to wait and see!

At Longlife we can’t give you a front end exhaust but if all this unveiling has got you excited about the up and coming F1 season, why not visit us for an upgrade!

New Citroen DS3 Racing to Cost A Whopping £23,100

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Performance car enthusiasts shouldn’t be put off by the hefty £23,100 price tag of the Citroen DS3 Racing, which really is an impressive motor. Drivers will get a great kick out of the 1.6 litre THP 150 engine, which generates 200 hp and 275Nm of torque.

Take this rapid little motor out for a track day and you will be guaranteed an immensely pleasurable experience. The manufacturers say that the car accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and that speeds in excess of 140mph are easily achievable.

In their attempt to turn the new Citroen into a speed merchant the expert racing team decided to kit it out with new turbos and exhaust system. They were also keen to ensure that the ride was extremely comfortable and so added a stiffer suspension. Specific dampers were installed and the front and rear tracks were widened by 30mm. Motorists will enjoy the sense of control which comes from the fully updated brake system, complete with four-piston callipers and unique front brake discs.

The Citroen is a sexy car which will definitely turn heads. It comes in 2 different colour schemes, one of which is a mixture of Obsidian Black body and Sport Orange roof, the alternative has a Polar White body and Carbon Grey Roof. The vibrant orange or handsome grey blend perfectly with the alloy wheels, door mirrors and grille surround. Just to reinforce the high performance appeal of this vehicle it also features ‘Citroen Racing’ badges on the doors and racing seats.

Few details have been spared on the DS3, which also has climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensors and a technologically advanced ESP programme, known as Switchable ESP. Other top notch additions include carbon fibre rear diffuser, front bumper and wheel-arch extensions. Citroen are so confident in the standard of their carbon fibre that they have used it for the centre console, steering wheel and door inserts as well.

Anybody who is interested in purchasing a DS3 is advised to do so as quickly as possible. There are only going to be 200 versions sent over to the UK and they will be on sale from September 1. Unfortunately there will be a good few months wait before the car is finally delivered. However, it may be difficult to hide your excitement when you are finally able to take your seat in this sporty little motor.
